Check in our Files - there should be two types of roll away doors listed
there - one that slides to the side and the other slides down from the top -
you can install whichever one meets your needs the best. I have the older
style screen type door that is snapped to one side and sticks to the other
side with Velcro strips - it's still doing its job for me.

[A/S] Armstrong AC Units & R12 R22 R134

I did not know that the RV used R22. Much easier to find that R12. In the aviation community we still need the R12. It can be obtained but has finally gotten so expensive that even aviation looks for an alternative.

I have see "Hot Shot" used in place of R12 and R134. The gas will mix with both and cools well enough.

[tabtrailers] My AC Smells like Mold!

I don't know if it's my allergies acting up (sometimes I smell everything, like a dog, or nothing at all!) but my AC smells like mold the last couple of times I've run it. Anyone else ever have this experience?

If I can talk them into it, November 19-23 (range) but for sure January 2-8 (range). Are you a t@b or a t@da? Drycamping means 2-3 days tops, unless you have solar or a generator...

yeah, don't try getting on a washington state ferry with the propane on....

And some tunnels and bridges may have restrictions too.

The first two RVs that we camped with for 30 years did not have another option for traveling, and we were used to the idea of traveling with the propane on. However, many people consider this an unnsafe towing practice. We sometimes turn the refrigerator off for the morning driving hours, and then turn it back on at noon, without much loss in temperature.

Really want to tow with the propane on since the DC power demand pretty much equals what you put back in to the battery from the car alternator, which means if you start with 70% battery power, after 5 hours of motoring you still pretty much have 70% battery power. Any ideas...maybe a wind protector over the front vent??

Re: [tabtrailers] Screen door

I really like my "roll up" screen door.  Vince Bologna on the list has all the details/dimensions and can order them thru his hardware store/lumber company.

I highly recommend this style.

Plane passengers on stand for 5 hour flight

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 11:44 PM PDT

Security norms are fundamental in travel industry. We wouldn’t be able to single out a convenient area where they most have to be strict, but the latest case comes from a plane flying, which probably served also like a bus, from Turkey to Russia, where the passengers were asked to fly all the way through, on stand.

The six passengers said they were forced to stand on for five hour flight, and in cases of air turbulences they were asked to sit in the aisle, without the minimum security requirements, such as seat belts, oxygen masks or life vests.

And if they had any children, they had to seat on their parent’s lap- but the children were big enough to sit there. The incident has occurred on 24 of September and now the 6 passengers have sued the Anex Tour by demanding 4900$ each.
But Anex Tour offered only 212$ for each of them.

Defending the airline, a spokesman from Anex Tour said that no one had forced the passengers to fly. It was their decision. “All the tourists decided to fly back despite uncomfortable conditions.”
They could also wait seven hours for another plane, but indeed that chose to fly standing.

The incident wasn’t denied also by Tatarstan Airline, saying they won’t announce anything without the necessary investigations.

[tabtrailers] Missing Stabilizer Screws

Hi all!

While crawling around under our T@B working on a project to be described later, I discovered that I was missing a couple of screws and washers from my stabilizers. I put photos in the "*T@B Issues folder" in the photo section here. Yes, It occurs to me that I didn't include a photo of the new screw and washer but it was getting dark and you can plainly see where it goes.

The issue is that these screws are not normally stocked in many hardware stores. The screw is a 1/2" long by 1/4" diameter metal screw. Most stores here only stock them down to 3/4 inch length. I ordered several from a local "Fastenal" store.

The washer is an oddball too in that it is a 7/8" fender washer. (It may be a metric size but I was too lazy to look) I substituted a 1" fender washer with a 1/4" center hole. That is a bit large but will do the job.

The function of this screw/washer combination appears to be to cover the opening rather than to hold things together. The washer should be allowed to move freely so it doesn't bind up the motion of the stabilizer, therefore, one should give special attention to how tightly the screw is fastened.

The crud & mud on the bottom of our T@B and on the stabilizer is from a combination of lubes used in the last year on the stabilizer and a liberal splashing of good Utah mud I picked up on the way to Monument Valley. A thorough cleaning will come at the end of the project mentioned earlier which is related to moisture issues in our floor.

From under the T@B, I am:

[tabtrailers] Re: Winterizing a T@DA

Most of the 'made to fit' covers are made of breathable material. When I put my cover on, I close up the windows and overhead vent and put a small container of Damp Rid in the sink. I'm in Maryland, so you and I will get most of the same weather. I change out the Damp Rid once or twice as it needs to be changed.

We put dryer sheets in all of the cabinets and cubby holes and set out carbon filled mildew containers. Last year we bought a little thermostatically controlled ceramic heater and put it on a low setting. Keeps things "comfortable" inside. This year we are adding moth balls to the list, up near the roof vent to discourage squirrels from trying to get in through the cover.
