[tabtrailers] Re: Screen rooms, awnings
Sandra,
I posted those 2 photos of my home made tarp in the Screenrooms and Awnings album.
The closeup during construction had the following caption:
Put a 3/8" rope in the tarp, slide it into the channel and choose placement, stake it out, pull back excess to fit it to the shape of the T@B as seen here, mark the curve with wax or chalk, sew a casing at the mark to slide rope into, cut off excess tarp material, thread rope, sew rope to tarp to keep from sliding and to retain shape, add bungees to hook to T@B handles, viola! Quick, easy & cheap. Now to find a RED tarp! ;-) (silicone spray in the channel is a MUST!)

Basically put one end into the awning rail....then the other end would be flat with 2-3 poles supporting in. Basically the awning would go from a arch along the T@B to a flat straight profile at the poles? Might have to get a custom cut awning to do it properly...but I think it would work.

[tabtrailers] Another Homade Awning
Hi all, some have ask about awnings that we have made. I have a T2 that doesn't have a awning rail, so I used a 6'X9' canvas tarp and 3 tent poles to make one. I have uploaded 3 pictures to Modifications (miscellaneous).

Re: [A/S] Drianing the black water tank
Some of the state parks we stay at have "Dishwater Drains" alongside the road where you can run a water hose and empty your dish/shower water. I notice a lot of people using it too.

Did you mean to type "not"? In my 12 years of fulltiming, and 48
states, I have found it to be illegal most places to dump gray water on
the ground.
You certainly can't, and shouldn't, in campgrounds.
I see no reason not to on your own property, but other than that its a
no no.

I've just added a short list of cleaners and polishes that I can recall from our recent postings. I know there are more - and for more specific uses - wheels, rubber trim, windows, etc. I'm trying to use up a bottle of Protect All before I move on to the AutoBond. If anyone recommends another product, I'll be glad to add it to the list.

We're in!
We got site 20-C. Not sure yet whether we'll arrive in one vehicle or two - I have to work Friday and Michael doesn't.
This is our first NorCal rally, we just moved back home from SoCal last summer. Michael spent a lot of time in Monte Rio when he was growing up so we're really looking forward to this.

Probably by the time you pay for an Airstream you can barely afford a tow
vehicle. I know hot rods are expensive too.

Speaking of surprising things, I'm surprised I don't see more people
with custom tow vehicles pulling AS or even box campers along the lines
of what the street rod crowd uses to pull their show cars.

I found also that leaving it in place for too long - like several months caused the brakes to stay engaged after I let down the lever - took a while (and a hammer ) to free up the brakes from the brake drum.

Going down the hwy with the brake on can really ruin my day and more.Burned out drums and axles is a real bummer. This I know will sooner or late happen if I use the hand brake "regularly". Thus I only use the hand brake while I'm unhooked. When I re-hook, I make an effort to not get the hitch right under the ball thus requireing me to move the T@B at least a little bit which in turn makes me release the brake on the trailer.I think this a good policy for all T@B owners

[tabtrailers] Re: Hand brake
Because I've had a history of the brakes not releasing, I always back up at least 6 feet after pulling out of wherever it's been parked with the brake handle in the up position. I've also been seen checking the area at the universal joint to be sure the "buttons" for the 'lines' are seated flat against the plate. Then when you roll out, check your mirrors and be sure your wheels are rolling freely.
